CNN  —  A juror who served on the civil trial relating to a 2016 ski collision involving Gwyneth Paltrow said “it took us less than 20 minutes to say Gwyneth was not at fault.” Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, had sued Paltrow, an Oscar-winning actor and entrepreneur, over injuries he said he sustained when the two collided at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah more than seven years ago. On Thursday, the jury in the trial found Paltrow was not liable and also ruled in her favor in her counterclaim against Sanderson. Sam Imrie, a member of the eight-person jury, said they were quickly in agreement that Paltrow was not at fault but deliberated for about two and a half hours to go through the nine questions on the verdict form. “It was really interesting to see that we were all on the same page,” Imrie told CNN’s…

Jerusalem CNN  —  A Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli police early on Saturday at the entrance to the al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem, frequently a flashpoint in tensions between Israel and the Palestinians. Palestinian and Israeli sources disputed the circumstances that led to the killing of 26-year-old Muhammad Al-Osaibi at the compound, home to one of Islam’s most revered sites but also the holiest site in Judaism, known as the Temple Mount. A former Israeli lawmaker, Talab Al-Sanee, said Al-Osaibi was killed after he tried to intervene when he saw Israeli police and border guards assaulting a young Palestinian woman. Israeli police said the man had grabbed a gun from a police officer who had stopped him for questioning and managed to fire two shots before he was killed by police. Jerusalem CNN  —  A tiny Jerusalem gas station was an unlikely setting for a cautionary tale about Israel’s political evolution. The station is just a short stroll from the seat of the Israeli government, where full-throated passions played out on the streets on March 27 as pro- and anti-government protesters waved flags and shouted each other down over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposed judicial reforms. It seemed to be democracy in action: discontent freely aired, an unruly discourse of sorts – but the events captured on a grainy cell phone shot above the gas station forecourt revealed a darker side of the forces being unleashed.
